NASA astronaut Steve Swanson competed in the Wild West Relay twice before with his team. But this year, his participation was much different - he is currently stationed on the International Space Station. That didn't stop this Steamboat Springs native. He ran as part of the Ultra 6x6 team 200 Miles, 20 Orbits, & 90 Shillings. He ran his six legs on a treadmill on the Space Station while coordinating with his team on the ground. Here is a video posted on YouTube by NASA of him running one of his legs.
Steve also sent this photo of a Wild West Relay hat from the Space Station.
Received this email today from a volunteer who staffed an exchange during the Green Mountain Relay:
Dear Paul,
I served as a volunteer for the Green Mountain Relay this past weekend (Neighborhood Connections ) and wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed my participation in the event. I was impressed with the level of organization provided and so enjoyed meeting the race participants! I wanted to share my thoughts about the experience and to thank you for your effort in producing such a wonderful event.
My blog post for 6/24/12 is called "Running".

I hope that you enjoy the post.
I wish to thank you too, on behalf of Neighborhood Connections!
Very best regards,
Elaine
