RELAY TEAM CATEGORIES
10-person, 5-person Ultra teams, 3-person Super Ultra teams
Competitive and Non-Competitive categories
(6 - 10 runners) have seven competitive categories to choose from. Competitive means that the team run their legs in rotation in the same order for the entire relay.
- Men's - all men
- Women's - all women
- Mixed - minimum of 50% women
- Open - any combination of gender
- Masters - all team members over 40
- Corporate - awards will be give if there are at least five corporate teams; if less, teams will be reclassified to above appropriate category
Each person on a competitive 10-member team runs three legs of the race in rotation in the same order. And a complete and accurate time sheet is required to be turned in at the finish for all teams that want to be classified as competitive.
High School teams are also invited to participate and have a discounted registration fee. All team members must be in middle or high school (graduating the year of the relay is okay) - NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE FLAMING FOLIAGE RELAY
Ultra teams (4 - 5 runners) run the 5 x 6 option where each runner is responsible for 6 legs run in rotation just like the 10-person teams. Categories are: Men, Women, Open, and Masters.
Super Ultra (3 runners) can run their legs in any order they want including combining multiple legs but they must stop and check in at every runner exchange.
The Helter Skelter category is available for both 10-person and Ultra teams and is a non-competitive category. Whereas competitive teams must follow the standard relay rules of keeping the running order of their team intact, the Helter Skelter category is for teams that choose to have their runners run in any order they want. No awards are given in the Helter Skelter category.
